Improve quality and quantity of your yield with a vacuum distillation unit

Whether you are simply a small entrepreneur trying to find out new ways to recondition waste lube oil or a commercial producer of various chemicals, you can surely improve quality and quantity of your yield with a vacuum distillation unit. These units create a vacuum over your key ingredients and lower their boiling points so as to reward you with a pure and safe end product.

Distillation is used to separate several mixed ingredients within a liquid and is achieved normally by boiling the mixture in a vessel until the ingredients with a lower boiling point start to evaporate. The vapors of these ingredients are then separated by adequate packing or filter rings and the chosen vapors are led into a pipe or tube that is cooled down at the other end to induce re-condensation of those vapors. The result is that your chosen alcohol will condense back to liquid form and drip into the attached collector vessel. Commercial distilleries as well as several industries use distillation to separate their chosen products from other substances while ensuring that the end product is as pure and safe as possible.

However, some chemicals do have extremely high boiling points that could go over 400 degrees Celsius and the energy required to boil such chemicals could increase costs and efforts too. An extremely cost-effective solution would be to opt for a vacuum distillation unit that would create a vacuum once the required chemicals were poured into the vessel. The vacuum created in the unit reduces the boiling points of several chemicals by several degrees that instantly reduces the energy required to heat them up. These units have especially proven to be a boon to the petrochemical industry that uses vacuum fractional distillation columns to separate various types of fuels from crude oil.

An effective vacuum distillation unit or VDU used in the petrochemical industry would have several trays stacked at various levels to collect re-condensed chemicals that would have risen to the top of the column before falling back on to the designated tray based on their boiling points and molecular structure. The vacuum created within these columns would result in efficient separation at low temperatures as compared to a regular distillation unit. While larger units are used for petrochemical industries, you can also locate smaller portable units that can be used to filter waste lube oil so as to reuse the oil instead of disposing it.

There are select companies that also produce tiny vacuum distillation units suitable for laboratories so as to conduct experiments on a small scale that can be used for research or testing purposes. So, whether you require a unit for a large commercial petrochemical plant or need it to process smaller quantities of used lube oil, or even to conduct various experiments, you will surely find a unit that suits your requirements. However, such units need to be handled only by experts since they are quite complex as compared to simple or steam distillation units that are normally used to produce various products including various alcoholic beverages and essential oils.

Instead of trying to raise the temperature of your liquid raw materials in a bid to extract your chosen chemicals through the distillation process, you can simply induce a vacuum to create a reverse pressure over the molecules and lower their boiling points. You can certainly improve quality and quantity of your yield with a vacuum distillation unit while lowering costs at the same time.
